A FALL DAY IN SUMMERLAND

"SPRING COMES WITH FLOWERS, AUTUMN WITH THE MOON, SUMMER WITH THE BREEZE, WINTER WITH THE SNOW.  WHEN IDLE CONCERNS DON'T FILL YOUR THOUGHTS, THAT'S YOUR BEST SEASON."
 -----Wu-Men-----

Contrast between the sage brush on the hill sides, and the lush vineyards waiting to be harvested.

                 "OCTOBER IS NATURE'S FUNERAL MONTH.
NATURE GLORIES IN DEATH MORE THAN IN LIFE.
THE MONTH OF DEPARTURE IN MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE MONTH OF COMING-
OCTOBER THAN MAY,  EVERY GREEN THING LOVES TO DIE IN BRIGHT COLORS."
-----Henry Ward Beecher-----

OCTOBER

THEME IN YELLOW

I spot the hills
With yellow balls in Autumn.

I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
And I am called pumpkins.

On the last of October
When dusk is fallen
Children join hands
And circle round me
Singing ghost songs
And love to the harvest moon;
I am a jack-o'-lantern
With terrible teeth
And the children know
I am fooling.

AN EASTERN CANADA AND NEW ENGLAND FALL FOLIAGE TRIP

I have just returned from a trip to Eastern Canada and the New England states, USA.

We flew to Ottawa, Ontario then drove into the United States, traveling through New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.  We then crossed back into Canada into Quebec and circled back into Ontario again.  The scenery was beautiful and for the most part we had beautiful Fall Weather.
While we were in Ottawa we saw many of the historic sights.  (being our Canadian Capitol, Ottawa is a very interesting place to visit.

This is the Rideau Canal and Park with the Parliament Buildings in the background.

We visited many Museums and traveled around the city by bus.
Below, is the Bytown Museum.  Bytown was the original name of Ottawa.
