QUOTABLES

"Life is short, break the rules.  Forgive quickly, kiss slowly.  Love truly.  Laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile."

LIFE QUOTES

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFptESl-22I
        (Another Song About Life)

"LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY, BENEFIT FROM IT.  LIFE IS BEAUTY, ADMIRE IT.  LIFE IS A DREAM.  REALIZE IT.  LIFE IS A CHALLENGE, MEET IT.  LIFE IS A DUTY, COMPLETE IT.  LIFE IS A GAME, PLAY IT.  LIFE IS A PROMISE, FULFILL IT.  LIFE IS SORROW, OVERCOME IT.  LIFE IS A SONG, SING IT.  LIFE IS A STRUGGLE, ACCEPT IT.  LIFE IS A TRAGEDY, CONFRONT IT.  LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE, DARE IT.  LIFE IS LUCK, MAKE IT.  LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS, DO NOT DESTROY IT.  LIFE IS LIFE, FIGHT FOR IT"

QUOTES

"REMEMBER, IF YOU EVER  NEED A HELPING HAND, YOU'LL FIND ONE AT THE END OF YOUR ARM.  AS YOU GROW OLDER YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT YOU HAVE TWO HANDS.  ONE FOR HELPING YOURSELF, THE OTHER FOR HELPING OTHERS."
                                               -----AUDREY HEPBURN-----

"Laughter gives us distance.  It allows us to step back from an event,  deal with it and  then  move on."
                                                            -----Bob Newhart-----

"If you fell down yesterday, stand up today."

THINKING OF POETRY

"HOW DO I LOVE THEE?  LET ME COUNT THE WAYS."
                              -----Elizabeth Barrett Browning-----

I think this must be one of the most famous lines, ever written.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning (March 6 1806--June 29 1861)
She, and her husband, Robert were both well known poets.

Their story is immortalized in a play "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" by Rudolf Besier,  which Was produced in Cleveland, OH and also appeared on Broadway in 1931.
It was also made into two movies, black and white in 1934 and in colour in 1957.
The play must have been popular, as a musical version, Robert and Elizabeth was produced in 1964.

The Barretts of Wimpole Street  became a  BBC TV series in 1982.  Quite a history!
I came accross one of her poems, this morning, which got me thinking about her history.

THOUGHTS

"IF YOU ENTER THIS WORLD KNOWING YOU ARE LOVED AND LEAVE THIS WORLD KNOWING THE SAME, THEN EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN BETWEEN CAN BE DEALT WITH.

LIVING

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUgX1EgtK_A

"LIFE IS FILLED WITH SO MANY EXCITING TWISTS AND TURNS.  HOP OFF THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW WHENEVER YOU CAN AND TAKE THE WINDING PATHS.  EXPERIENCE THE EXILERATION OF THE VIEW FROM THE EDGE.  BECAUSE THE MOMENTS SPENT THERE, THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY, ARE WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL TRULY ALIVE."

"LONG TERM SUCCESS IS BUILT ON CREDIBILITY AND ON ESTABLISHING ENDURING LOVING RELATIONSHIPS WITH QUALITY PEOPLE BASED ON MUTUALLY EARNED TRUST.  CUT ALL TIES WITH DISHONEST, NEGATIVE OR LAZY PEOPLE, AND ASSOCIATE WITH PEOPLE WHO SHARE YOUR VALUES.  YOU BECOME WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH.

Loudon Wainwright III

During the day, when I am travelling in my car, I listen to CBC Radio.  On Friday, I was listening to Jian Ghomeshi, and he had as his guest Loudon Wainright III.  I don't know if people remember him, but he had a "hit" song in 1972 called:
"Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaN7xuAIjXI&feature=fvwrel
Anyway, apparently he has a new album out, "Older Than My Old Man Now"
He played a song from that album.  "The Here and The Now"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WfkBGs0kf8

He is an acquired taste, like Burl Ives, "An Itty Bitty Tear Let Me Down"

The ones that sing these little ditties, capture a bit of life, as it really is....

NORTHERN GATEWAY PIPELINE

 A Beautiful World/Devo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56u6g0POvo

"Some day the earth will weep,  She will beg for Her life,  She will cry with tears of blood.
You will make a choice,  if You will help Her or let Her die, and when She dies, You will die too."
                                                      -----John Hollowhorn-----
                                                                Oglala Lakota
                                                                      1932
I haven't gotten on my soapbox lately, but this is one of the issues that has been bothering me.
I am sure that most people remember the oil spill on the coast of Alaska, by the Exon Valdez.
Valdez is located in such a beautiful place.  There are Bald Eagles in every tree.  Don't ask the locals
about the oil spill, as they won't talk about it.  They are all too dependent on Exon.
Now the Canadian government wants to put in a pipeline to the coast, so that big tankers can come in
and fill up with oil.  This oil is bound mainly to China.  Great for the economy, but if there are any problems,
we are left here, to clean up the mess.
