I think this must be one of the most famous lines, ever written.


Elizabeth Barrett Browning (March 6 1806--June 29 1861)
She, and her husband, Robert were both well known poets.


Their story is immortalized in a play "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" by Rudolf Besier,  which Was produced in Cleveland, OH and also appeared on Broadway in 1931.
It was also made into two movies, black and white in 1934 and in colour in 1957.  
The play must have been popular, as a musical version, Robert and Elizabeth was produced in 1964. 


 The Barretts of Wimpole Street  became a  BBC TV series in 1982.  Quite a history!
I came accross one of her poems, this morning, which got me thinking about her history.

I haven't gotten on my soapbox lately, but this is one of the issues that has been bothering me.
I am sure that most people remember the oil spill on the coast of Alaska, by the Exon Valdez.
Valdez is located in such a beautiful place.  There are Bald Eagles in every tree.  Don't ask the locals
about the oil spill, as they won't talk about it.  They are all too dependent on Exon.
Now the Canadian government wants to put in a pipeline to the coast, so that big tankers can come in
and fill up with oil.  This oil is bound mainly to China.  Great for the economy, but if there are any problems,
we are left here, to clean up the mess.

Saying goodbye to Davey Jones is saying a final farewell to the sixties.  The lead singer of the singing group, the Monkees, a group created for a television show!


It is surprising, just how many of the entertainers of the sixies have now passed on...It is an era unto itself.   The sixties definitely had a sound of its own.  It is always interesting when music from the past makes its way into the music of the present.

If we lose the ability to learn, we may as well, forget life, as we know it.  It is easy to "talk the talk" but a different matter entirely, to "walk the walk".
I am afraid that I am getting a bit tired of people, that can not do as they say.  I want to just cover my ears so I can not hear the "blah blah blah"  Come on out and say what you mean, maybe I do not want to hear it, but at least it is honest.

Just think about it.  Bloomingdales represents high fashion,  forward thinking, and independent  women, while Sears, is the practical, get what you need and get out, style, of most men.  Shopping is one of the things that usually puts men and women in two different corners.  I say usually, but I have met a few exceptions!

There have been many comments made, about the differences between men and women.  Some are just comical, some are seriously true.  There are a lot of myths about the differences between the sexes.  It is up to each individual, to decide, for himself, or herself, which is fact or fiction....

We spend, far too much time, on the inconsequential things in our lives.  We fret about the past and worrry about the future, and TODAY, just seems to get neglected.  TODAY, is the only day that we have.  Take  the sum total of our every day lives, look at it, and take it for what it is worth.  The past is just that, the past.  Learn from it, and move on.  The future we Know is coming. (all things being equal)   Hey, look forward to it!  But today, is now, savor every minute of it.  Do what needs to be done.  Never let it be said, we have wasted our time.  Enjoy today, it may be the only one that we have.
