ROBINSON CRUSOE'S STORY

The night was thick and hazy
When the 'Piccadilly Daisy'
Carried down the crew and captain in the sea'
And I think the water drowned 'em;
For they never, never found 'em.
And I know they didn't come ashore with me.

This poem has such a nice Iambic Pentameter.
Just as an after thought...there is an old song, telling the same song. All these things are presented in a funny vein!

ReplyDeleteCharles Edward Carryl is a very prolific Poet. What I find interesting about him is that some of his poems were set to music for light operas, like Gilbert and Sullivan's
ReplyDeleteH.M.S. Pinafore. One, A Capital Ship, was well produced. If you look him up on google, there is a lot of information. Also, the music is played on You Tube. Where I came across him, was when we were in Elementary School, and there were Excerpts of his poems and also the play, of H.M.S. Pinafore.
