BACK TO A BLAST FROM THE PAST

Isn't it just!  I have just posted three videos from You Tube of a Canadian group called the Poppy Family.  I was reading another blog "Caroles Chatter" about the song  SEASONS IN THE SUN, sung by Terry Jacks and it brought to mind the sixties.

In 1964 CBC  television Vancouver started a music program for teenagers called Let's Go.  This is where a lot of Vancouver artists got their start.  Among them were Susan Pesklevits, who became Susan Jacks, and her husband Terry Jacks formed a group called the Poppy Family.

From these humble beginnings, came a cross-Canada series under the title of Music Hop. It was on five days a week.  Monday from Vancouver, Tuesday from Winnipeg, Wednesday from Toronto, Thursday from Montreal and Friday from Halifax.  Music hop continued until 1967.

Some of the guests they had on the show, were THE COLLECTORS, ERIC BURDON AND THE ANIMALS, AND THE POPPY FAMILY.  Surprisingly enough, Anne Murray, got a good start on the Halifax version, before she became more successful.
