Another Event we always attend is the Fireman's drive for Toys and Toonies for Tots and Teens.  We enjoy getting out and seeing people, purchasing the toys and giving some money so that the children can have a good Christmas!

November 25, 2016 TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Summerland Festival Of lights.  This has become a great event for the town.  They estimate about five thousand people attend the festival every year.  Besides the lighted decorations, there are vendors, entertainment and fireworks!


                                                                                      


  

Critteraid Fundraiser

Last evening we went to a fundraiser for a local animal rescue.  They have a farm where they keep the animals.  Critteraid started originally when a lady had to move, and she had 30 or 40 cats.  Of course she could not find another rental that would allow that many cats.  A small group of her friends, got together and tried to find homes for the kitties. It became so popular, that they took on other animal projects.  They had a hand in rounding up some local feral cats.  Now they take in other animals that need homes!  They have lots of volunteers, have fund raisers and they also have a charity shop downtown.  It is a worthy organization. 
For this fundraiser, they had it a local hotel pub.  For your 30 dollar ticket, you got a burger, a drink and got to listen to a very good Elvis Tribute Artist.  Of course the proceeds went to help the animals!

REMEMBRANCE DAY NOVEMBER 11

When we were in Melbourne, we visited the Shrine of Remembrance.
It is a fitting tribute to those that served.  I would hope that lessons would be learned.   We are here enjoying our freedom, and remembering those that lost their live to give it to us!


           

IN FLANDERS FIELDS

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
 Between the crosses, row on row.
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still singing bravely fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead.  Short days ago

We have been bombarded with the current United States Election.  As we live next door to that country, it does have a very large impact on our life.  It has been the rudest campaign, that I have ever witnessed in my Lifetime.  I wish them well, with Donald Trump.  I hope that as a president, he will present himself, in a better light, than he did in the election campaign.

NOVEMBER

Here we go again....The first day, of a new month.  I put it down to old age, that time seems to fly by faster.  I just got used to October and now it is November.  I guess we will just have to live with it!
