SOMETIMES TIME AND LIFE GETS AWAY FROM YOU!
I guess we were lucky we only lost our Walnut Tree.
A new month! Where does time go....I had to put new tires on my car yesterday! I opted to buy all weather tires, instead of putting on new winter ones. I only travel locally by car, I do not drive over mountain passes, etc. would rather use other means of transportation other than having to drive myself!
The summer went by quickly! It was too hot....now it has changed to winter! It has skipped the usual beautiful fall, that we usually have. We had about 4 inches of new (very wet) snow overnight. It was a nightmare to shovel, as it was sooooooo wet! We live on a main route, so the plow and sand trucks inundate out driveway when they are plowing I was out there before 5:00 am, to clear my driveway. They promise us, that more snow is on the way!
It has been a busy time in general. We never had a chance to rake all the leaves before the snow. They are still on the trees. We had a big wind storm a couple of weeks ago and our walnut tree broke in half, so that is still laying on the lawn. We are waiting for a tree company to come and cut it up and haul it away. We were lucky it did not land on the house! Other people were not so lucky. Depending on the weather, if they manage to get her to fix it up!
In the meantime, I will try to get all the other things done that need doing. There never seems to be enough hours in the day, to get everything done. How I managed when I was working, I have no idea!

Summer in the Okanagan Valley!
Well, it is fall here, again. It has been a long dry hot summer. Lots of forest fires in the province. Loss of a lot of good timber. It has been a busy time, for me, as I have had my daughter, her husband and two children visiting for five weeks. It was great having them around.
There was about a week....then we went on holiday!
Fruit season: They have picked some of the earlier apples. There are still plenty to come. They are also picking pears, and the peaches are nearly over. we are so lucky to have all the fresh fruit and vegetables1

COPING WITH OUR GRIEF AND LOSS OF A LOVED ONE
In 2005 I lost a dear friend. We had been a couple for 6 years. Everyone handles their grief differently. We only need to be able to live with it in our normal lives.
I used a journal to sort my thoughts and feelings. When I felt low, I would choose a page, (any page) and I would write down how I was feeling. I would write about how sad I felt or how angry I felt, at being left here alone. I would also write about the happy things that had happened when we were together, and things that I had liked about this person. I have never reread any of these entries. But, I do feel that it helped me to work through that troubling time.
We never forget the people that we lost...but we do need to look to the future, and learn from our past experiences.

HOME FROM A HOLIDAY!
Just a few pictures of our area. Due to late snowfall, and lots of snow in the hills, Okanagan Lake levels have risen and we have flooding near the lake. Luckily for me, I live on Higher Ground!
Where the benches are, in this picture, are one of our favorite picnic Areas! It is the same park where there is free entertainment every Wednesday evening!
This is what some of the lakeshore residents are dealing with!!
Back to the good news. We took a few days out to go on a road trip! We spent three nights in Calgary, We went to museums and saw the sights. We went out for a nice dinner, as well. Then we travelled to Drumheller to the Tyrell Museum. It is an area where they found a lot of Dinosaur bones. There are exhibits about Dinosaurs and their history. They also show how they are found and brought to the museum. It was very interesting. We then drove to Stettler Alberta, stayed overnight and went riding on their Steam Train. The scenery is not as nice as our train ride here in Summerland, but at the end of the ride we had a nice lunch and a small town with a lot of history and museums. We then took the train back to Stettler. We drove on to Red Deer where we stayed overnight The following day, we headed for home. We drove from Red Deer to Rocky Mountain House to Golden, BC when we again stayed over night. We arrived home about 1:00 pm this afternoon! It was a nice break. Train at Stettler Alberta
DDown town Calgary Alberta
Scenery on the way, to and from Alberta:
Very beautiful scenery!
